Overall, this is a great kit for a variety of purposes. It states it is for a knee kit, but really it's for anyone who may need some sort of assistance. On the end of the grabber is a piece of plastic with a magnet that juts about an inch. I'm sure it would be useful for picking up lightweight metal pieces, but I use it to grB objects that are out of reach. That piece that juts out catches on many things that in the same area what you are trying to pick up.
