Works on R170/Crossfire

Works well on my Crossfire/MB R170. Didn't compress enough so had to unscrew the LCA to get the springs out, but that's not the product's fault. It's durable and customizable.

Pros
  • Little competitor
Cons
  • High price

Great tool for early Chevrolets

I used this tool on a 65 El Camino, it worked great. I work in the automotive industry. This tool worked better than any other type of spring compression used inside the spring.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Working speed

act. for steering and suspension tools

I'm not a mechanic who has used this tool but he said it works great. It's very heavy and took a while, but you can't pay $600-$1,500 for this tool. Sent immediately by ground transport. I have a 1981 Mercedes that needed a new front end. Even at Mercedes there was no place for this tool to get the job done.

Pros
  • Fits me perfectly
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

An indispensable tool for working with Mercedes chassis!

This tool works very well and costs a lot less than a factory Mercedes spring compressor. If you're undertaking chassis work on a classic Mercedes, this tool is a must! It is important to follow the instructions, never use an impact wrench and to lubricate the threads from time to time to ensure smooth operation.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Compatibility

It pays to get the job done properly and efficiently

I used this supercharger to overhaul the front of my 87 190e 2.3-16. I can't imagine working without him. You might be able to decompress the springs without a compressor, but I can't imagine compressing them for assembly without one. This compressor makes it quick and easy. Lubricate the threaded rod regularly and use hand tools to twist/compress.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Not sure

I confess I am impressed with this excellent compressor

Very good kit. Confidence-inspiring finish and strength. The filling is smooth and even. Really the only way out for these Mercedes springs. Immediately ready for use without prior knowledge. Real value and gets the job done even quicker than McPherson strut jobs and even easier than the regular side compressors on my old 4 runner. Easily costs 50% more or more. Rugged molded case with HINGES and toggle closure. Save time and work safely and confidently.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
