Cheap steel is good for hauling products and winches

Installed on my PWC lift the other day and the jetski didn't even come out of the water, weight 640# and the crankshaft handle broke glad the dog was in place and Tell me when did it happen. The combination of PWC and aluminum frame does not exceed 700# and it is a straight tension cable. Unfortunately I cut the hook off sooner as I had to use a cable clamp to install it or it would have been returned. save your money

  • Durable test results
Cons

It's worth it. on Towing Food & Winch

Very good for lifting my bird feeders. They used to sag when I pulled them out by hand, but with this winch the cable is pulled and about 1.5 feet up. I would give it 5 stars but to install it I had to take it apart to thread the screws through the base. Inserting the small spring into the small hole was next to impossible. Got it back together after 6 or 7 tries. Hope there is no corrosion.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Failed very quickly with light use

Not hard wearing at all. I bought it because it offered reverse braking, but it only worked once. Then the seesaw slipped out of position and she didn't brake forward either. As such, there was no other way to keep the load up or down than to hold the handle with one hand. It was rated at 600lbs but I never gained more than 50lbs and have only used it 3 times. I sent it back for a refund and will try another brand.

Spend money elsewhere

I chose this winch because I felt it would hold my 20ft boat easily, but it doesn't. The metal spool holding the winch strap bent when I first used it, I went ahead and pulled the boat where I wanted to go having just purchased and installed this winch. When I got there I found that the gripping mechanism had failed and the winch cable was slack. The boat was on a trailer attached only by stern straps and gravity. Shop elsewhere.

Won't let you down twice

Bought for use with a strap. There wasn't room for a pin to hold the strap so I had to drill it myself. It worked the first two times pulling my 19ft out of the water (pulling the trailer with slicks), the third time the spring broke. You will need to use pliers to make a new loop at the end of the feather. Then I noticed that the brake was slipping past the gearbox and I had to force it back into place. Luckily I had my tools with me and there was no queue as usual at the pier. Just not a…

Buyer Beware of Winches

I originally intended to return the winch as it turned out that the mounting screw pattern didn't match the base it was going to be installed on. Upon closer inspection, it actually did fit, so I left the unit and installed it. That's when I found out how bad the design is. I was trying to lift a 120 pound boat. The ratchet's locking lever and gear are so small that they slip and jam in the unlocked position. This is dangerous. I would not rate this winch more than 10 pounds. It is also…

I'm frankly disappointed. The block does not go well around

Frankly disappointed. The device does not reverse properly. The fuse does not work, which is very dangerous if the user loosens the grip. Court case pending.>> I had to lubricate it before it could even start.>> The description says you can use a strap but there is no way to attach one. It also turns a lot harder than my 1800 lb boat winch. I tried it on a pontoon trailer before ordering yours. >> I spent several hours running to the store to get a cable (my seatbelt didn't…
