Used on Jeep, full of junk

Died 15 miles from driving leaving me stranded. I installed this on a Jeep TJ and couldn't be more disappointed. DO NOT BUY THIS if you have a Jeep! I tried calling Accel and couldn't reach anyone. Save your money and buy an OE style reel.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Minor issues

Too bad it doesn't work for ignition parts

This is a coil, easy to install. It would be great if only it worked, I've tried 2 and none worked. I've used Accel Super Coil before and they've always worked great and lasted a long time. This model doesn't work at all. I called Accel and they said to buy their MSD model, wow!

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • No instructions

Made in China! in Ignition Parts

I ordered this part for my 1994 Jeep Weangler. In the meantime I have bought a spool from NAPA. The NAPA coil worked great and is made in Poland. The Accel coil is made in China, this was not stated in the product description. I don't want to buy parts from a US company that outsources to China. I don't need Chinese spare parts for my jeep.

Pros
  • Permanent Test Results
Cons
  • I will add later

Sorry guys this sucks

I got this for my second jeep and it didn't even last a year! I almost died when my jeep got stuck at a traffic light at an intersection! I'm not sure I would take the risk again. However, this is unlikely as I am unable to get a refund or exchange. Jeep spent 2 weeks in the garage to find the problem. It's my only car and having a disability and not being able to keep appointments is a risk I can't take.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Exterior

Impressive good for ignition parts

I always thought you could get that much spark from a spark plug, I was wrong. Installed this with Accel wires and spark plugs with an Accel cap and rotor, #1) nearly 6mpg more city. #2) Installed about 2 weeks before emissions, CO2 emissions are 35% lower than previous emissions. #3) 100% faster startup. #4) Throttle response is AMAZING. All in all this is the best tune I've had on my little 318 since it left the factory. 5.2L 318 in a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 short bed, long cab, 2 doors.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Slightly dented

USE IT IN ALL MY WRANGLERS - NO FAIL YET! VERY SATISFIED!

I was skeptical of all the early bug reviews; Many reviewers have suggested the MSD coil instead. But so far I've used Accel coils in 7 Jeep Wranglers and none of them have failed. Received it on time, well packaged, and it was a simple plug and play install; and so far it has worked very well. Just remember to clean the car harness connector with an electrical cleaner and apply dielectric grease to the connector that goes to the distributor and you're done!

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • Security

Nice responsive coil. Up to

I bought this coil in 1999 for a 1997 JGC v8. It works great and gives a quick start. Can't understand the bad reviews. However, I believe I got the value but kept the OEM just in case. Update: This coil has been working on a Jeep for 18 years. In May of this year I had a misfire and the exhaust blew up. I thought I was in an IED. But the silencer looked like a peeled banana. Well, it's time to evaluate the cause. I had exhaust fumes from leftover exhaust, so I figured some spark plugs weren't…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Little things

Excellent coil but poor wiring

Coil performance is much better than factory. If it continues to work well and reliably I might give it another star, but time will tell. The reason the rating isn't higher is because the adapter "needed" to connect the coil to the input wiring doesn't match the coil connector and pins. I sent back a reel thinking it was defective. Worked for 2 minutes and the engine stopped. After installing the second, it didn't even start. It turned out that the plug does not make contact with the terminals…
