G4000 9x19 Lathe Owners!

DO NOT make the mistake of ordering 1/2" carbide insert holders. With the current OEM setup you cannot get a working centerline without a major handlebar modification. Get the recommended size for a lathe paired with this heavy duty tool stand there is enough rigidity to make some serious chips If you upgrade your base lathe, HORRIBLE THE BULLET AND BUY IT, you won't be disappointed.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • When in doubt

Half the fun is the installation!

After unpacking and considering what my next step would be, I decided not to alter the compound slide in case I wanted to return it to its original state (for whatever reason). Anyway, the bolt that's on my Smithy 3-in-1 link bolt was M10x18. This is too small for the 9/16 hole in the new AXA tool holder. So I took a class 8 bolt, put it in a lathe and bent it to fit the hole. I then drilled and cut it into M8x18 and used it to block out the ne tool post. Works perfectly and looks great! I mean

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!

  • paltry

Great cheap alternative to big brands

I like quality, but I'm a maker in my home workshop, not a real locksmith. I have a 15" x 40" lathe and bought the BXA size. I understand from the book that I should use the CXA, but I've seen several Aloris BXAs work well on similar sized lathes. Mine fits like a glove. After a month of home workshop use, the mechanism remains smooth and all tool holders work well. For the price, I find the workmanship and processing very good. The only issue I had was that the drive lever was screwed in too…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Dull packaging
