Spend your extra money on something better

No targeting features. So if you are not very, very careful you will ruin everything and could damage your BB. I managed to make an alignment tube and use it over the threaded part, but do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on a tool with alignment capabilities.

Get the right tools!

If anyone wants to fit a headset, even on a cheap bike, chances are they will do it again. So get the right tool. The thing is nothing more than a threaded rod with a thick washer. However, this is not the right headset tool. Believe me! I paid a heavy price using this thing for a cute $100+ Hatta headset. Do not commit such a crime with your CK, Cane, Hatta, FSA or other headset. Get the right tool!

Works great!

I just replaced the headset cups on my Giant Glory DH bike and this tool made it so easy. Highly recommended for the price. Keep in mind that this tool isn't perfect, but I was able to insert the headset cups with no problem. My bike has a tapered steerer with a large lower cup. The round washers that came with it weren't wide enough to cover the head shell so I had to use the BB tool I had lying around to install the top shell. The rod is long enough, there were no problems with it. It can beโ€ฆ

never mind best at tool shop

It worked fine but one of the cups was crooked when tightened so I had to work really hard to straighten it. I don't think camps do anything at all to install cups. Depending on how much the screw and washer cost at the hardware store, this is something to consider. For a little over $10 it was ok. Also, the instructions are terrible. It is very unclear whether to press both cups or one at a time. If yes, which one works best? I tried one after the other. The bottom went smooth, the top started

Works well for the home mechanic who needs one of these every blue moon.

This is a decent budget alternative to the standard bike shop headset presses, but it has its limitations. It doesn't have the mandrels that come with more expensive presses, so you'll have to be more careful to make sure everything lines up correctly. It's a lot cheaper, so you have to weigh the pros and cons. If I was going to be installing headsets on a regular basis, I'd go ahead and spend money on Park Tool (or something similar). If I did them here and there, the cost would be much easier

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • No performance

Halved when peeled. Bad materials. Not for the first time.

I don't know exactly what happened. I installed the cups with no issues and sat straight and level, but I've used this style before and know what to expect from the balance. (If this is your first bearing installation, do not use this type of press.) Now for the problem. I wanted to loosen the nuts and remove the tool, for some reason it got stuck and I had to secure the tool while it was still in my frame to avoid damaging the bearings and breaking the bolt. I wish I knew what happened. Iโ€ฆ

Actually works very well for its price and does its job

Actually works very well after struggling to adjust the right placement, not very convenient to use and the tool in the Taking adjustment out Correct spot before tightening the bearings due to unstable build quality, I actually thought this would work really well if you have a second person to hold the tool while tightening for adjustment, there was a point where a the bearings are It's quite difficult to adjust the tool to get the bearings in place with two hands, but it's a lot safer thanโ€ฆ

  • You could choose a newer model

Soft Metal - Shop Tools

So when I opened the box I thought it was a good design with bearings and all, everything should work smoothly. That was until I tried taking it apart after use. It didn't loosen, I thought I was going insane, but no matter how hard I turned it, it didn't loosen, I think what happened was that the threads on the main screw were supposed to be too soft and ended up with the tightened nuts. I managed to loosen it just enough to slip a hacksaw between the cup and the press and cut through theโ€ฆ
