Activ Betta Gems Aquarium 1 Pound Review

This killed my beta fish in 48 hours. He was perfectly healthy with beautiful flowing fins and this created mud around him and made his fins stiff.

I love this product! It is alive and can provide beneficial bacteria to the aquarium. It actually says to fill everything up with the water in the bag but I really wouldn't do that because my tank would look very dirty, I would just dump the water out and then fill it up. Really good product.

I understand this product is intended to promote good bacterial growth in the aquarium but I had to refund the money for it as it was not intended for Fighting fish as advertised on the packaging. The stones are sharp and jagged and can damage the delicate fins of bettas.

This review is only about the packs I bought gems and redstone. I love this product, have had no complaints using it so far and am adding Betta shortly after setting up my aquarium and cleaning the water. I only wish it came in bags larger than 1lb. and whether the water should be drained before use. these are 2 contradictory directions on this point. Bought this and some small blue rocks for my small 5 gallon tank. They look great but don't really start the nitrogen cycle like a substrate with active bacteria should. I installed it on a Friday night and let it filter until Saturday night as the water was very cloudy as some have said.
