Used this soldering tip to put a new ribbon on my combination display. This worked fine, but I have to report that when using a 60w soldering iron, the supplied rubber strip melts (which is why it comes with a few inches). If you have an adjustable soldering iron or use 60 watts for less than 5-10 min. You can avoid melting it. Despite this, this product gets 5 stars. There are some really bad tips out there, this one is not one of them.

The product may not function properly. I had a good soldering iron that it fit in, but no matter how patient I was, it didn't attach (hot enough) the carbon tape to the BMW odometer. I suspect it's the wrong type of metal, maybe too much metal, or even the rubber is too thick.
