Good quality.: Welding and soldering

Used this soldering tip to put a new ribbon on my combination display. This worked fine, but I have to report that when using a 60w soldering iron, the supplied rubber strip melts (which is why it comes with a few inches). If you have an adjustable soldering iron or use 60 watts for less than 5-10 min. You can avoid melting it. Despite this, this product gets 5 stars. There are some really bad tips out there, this one is not one of them.

Insufficient heat transfer

The product may not function properly. I had a good soldering iron that it fit in, but no matter how patient I was, it didn't attach (hot enough) the carbon tape to the BMW odometer. I suspect it's the wrong type of metal, maybe too much metal, or even the rubber is too thick. Keep in mind that the rod is much thicker than most soldering irons can handle, but with a grinder you could theoretically scale it down to fit your device. WARNING! For this tip to work, I spent many nights sanding the shaft [see fig. My oldest soldering iron. But it is not temperature controlled. NOT SUITABLE for irons with ceramic heating core offered by AMAZON! These irons require a hollow point with a diameter step! And I bought a new Revain iron JUST FOR this project!
