165 dBm sensitivity, 10 Hz updates, 66 channels. Built in Real Time Clock (RTC) - slot in a CR1220 backup battery for 7-years or more of timekeeping even if the Raspberry Pi is off!. Internal patch antenna which works quite well when used outdoors + u.FL connector for external active antenna for when used indoors or in locations without a clear sky view. Fix status LED blinks to let you know when the GPS has determined the current coordinates. Raspberry Pi *not* included

Worked great even indoors

Used to create a PTP/NTP server. Worked great indoors too. It takes approximately 2 minutes to acquire a GPS signal indoors. I haven't tested it outdoors, but it's a very reliable card. I was able to get it up and running very quickly using a Raspberry Pi 2 and a Raspberry Pi 3 B. The Pi 3B was more of a challenge, but I overcame it after a few hours of fiddling. Even if it goes well with the smart case.

Great board for the price

Very well built, fits my RasPi perfectly and tracks pretty accurately. I would definitely recommend getting a battery as it will greatly speed up the cold start blocking process, as well as a powered external antenna as the internal antenna can be quite easily blocked by buildings, trees and things like that. I like the prototyping area on the board as it allowed me to add an RGB LED as well as a temp/humidity sensor and still keep everything nice.

Works great: Single board computer

Purchased to build an RPi based NTP server. Installation was very easy and I was quickly up and running with a working NTP server. The 40-pin connector needs to be soldered, but that's easy for anyone with a little soldering skills. The GPS acquires quickly after an initial cold fix and maintains a strong sync with an indoor antenna next to a window. Be sure to install a backup battery if you intend to ever unplug it to preserve the GPS almanac and not have to go through a cold data collection…

A reliable option to build a Stratum 1 Pi NTP server.

This board was easy to solder to the connector and install on the Pi. When setting up a Layer 1 NTP server, there are various software setup guides. Try to find one for the OS distribution you like and play around with it. The tricky part is the software configuration, not the hardware, although you can check how the hardware is set up to deliver the PPS signal. With shared memory mode, I get offsets of less than 10 microseconds (not milliseconds) and jitter typically less than 1 microsecond…

GPS location data is ok but can't use elevation data

I bought this to replace a SparkFun USB GPS device I've been using for 2 years in a Raspberry Pi that installed on the dashboard of my truck. I was initially impressed that it has an RTC and the form factor eliminates the need for a separate USB connected GPS. The easiest way to set up an NTP server

This hat is already configured to route the PPS from the GPS to the Raspberry Pi it is connected to. This means you can take advantage of the excellent timing properties of GPS for very accurate timing on your Raspberry Pi. On the Raspberry Pi itself it is possible to measure time within +/- 10 microseconds. This requires a good view of the sky to pick up a GPS signal.
