I use a 32" TV as a second monitor for remote work. This cable works as advertised. It connects my old HP PC via VGA to my HDTV via HDMI You also need to connect the USB cable to the TV. I didn't use an audio cable as I connected external speakers. I highly recommend this cable. Make sure you need VGA-HDMI as it's not bi-directional.

Not very happy with it. VGA connection is not suitable. Tried and tried connecting this to 2 different laptops and VGA will not connect! The VGA connector is not included in the output. This item worked well for four months, which also affected the HDMI port on my TV. I used this item from my laptop via the VGA port as the laptop didn't have an HDMI port so I bought it so now it doesn't work and on the TV I just can't get a signal to make sure it's not a TV or cable is. The HDMI output cable from the device is less than 18 inches long. The total extension from the laptop to the HDMI end is about 2 feet. The only way to connect it is to block the laptop screen as part of the external monitor. I think the most disappointing thing is that the HDMI cable coming out of the converter does NOT detach to be replaced with a longer HDMI cable.
