🚗 Arkon 90mm Adhesive Mounting Disk for Car Dashboards: Compatible with Garmin, TomTom, and other GPS Systems Review

The lens that came with the GPS unit couldn't stand the North Carolina sun. I ordered this Arkon replacement in a larger size, believing that the larger size would add additional adhesive surface. After making sure the surface of the dashboard was flat I used the paper towel that came with it, after inserting the disc I pressed it down with a heavy weight and left it overnight. Problem solved, I can't find the GPS on the car floor anymore. I recommend this article.

Stick on this awesome! Even under the Texas sun. Get correct placement 1st time, not 2nd time. The surface is smooth except for the edge and a very small central area. In my picture with the phone holder attached, I squeeze the other end pretty well and it doesn't even try to lift it. Of course I cleaned the dash thoroughly with the cleaner, then used the alcohol pad that came with it, THEN laid it down and wiped it down very well. The curing time is 24 hours.

I was actually looking for something to attach a suction cup lighted mirror to the side wall of my bathroom. Attaching to my vanity mirror was too far for me, but my side panel was painted and the suction wasn't holding it. I installed it - just peeled off the backing and pressed firmly against the wall. I waited 24 hours as the instructions say before attaching the mirror to it. It worked great. As the mirror was a bit heavy I waited a few days to make sure it wouldn't fall before writing this

The seal itself works well but the alcohol wipe provided permanently discolored the dashboard. Do not wipe the instrument panel with the supplied 70% alcohol wipe. Now my car has a permanent discoloration on the dashboard. I didn't expect a product designed to mount a GPS device on the dashboard to permanently damage my car. I bought this to be able to use the phone holder on the dashboard as I didn't get the previous one. One of the first things that struck me when I received the product was that for some reason the adhesive didn't cover the entire bottom as there was a hole punched in the middle which I felt would increase the likelihood of rejection. The surface is very smooth, the suction cup holds well. The glue stuck to my dashboard like crazy. Unfortunately the glue didn't stick to the disc itself! There may be some release agent left in the manufacturing process that is preventing proper adhesion. It's hard to tell if this issue affects all blocks or just a small percentage. I had a dash mount with a bent mounting plate because I left the suction cup mount attached while the car was in the sun. The deformed plate prevented the suction cup from gripping securely when my GPS was installed. I used a heat gun to heat the mounting plate just enough to flatten it (though not flat enough for the suction cup to grab), cleaned it with the alcohol wipe provided, and fitted the new adapter plate on top. Strong and good grip. Be ABSOLUTELY sure where you want to mount the phone holder before you place it because you will NOT get a second try lol.
