Hardware works, drivers are finicky, firmware supplied is buggy

Drivers were a nuisance to install as the USB to serial adapter was not properly recognized by Windows. It needs CH340 driver, after installation you can access the serial port. After that, I found that the sample firmware that came with it didn't work. After flashing it with my own code, the camera worked fine, apart from an odd hiss/hiss from the camera itself that seems to track the camera's frame rate. With SRAM, it can run at the sensor's native resolution at painfully low frame rates.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Piggy bank price

ESP32-CAM face recognition does not work

I like this product, but it is not suitable for my purpose. The Arduino CameraWebServer example program has face recognition and will not work in this case. Tried other similar programs with the same problem. This will freeze this ESP32-CAM. Everything else works and I recommend it if you only want to use it for videos and pictures. If you want to use it for face recognition projects, this won't work. There is also a problem with garbage characters in Serial Monitor and I followed all the…

Pros
  • Robust construction
Cons
  • High price

Patience and attention to detail will ensure it works.

. I have included a photo of my plastic Beethoven in my review to show that I crossed the finish line. The correct baud rate for this thing is 115200. I also chose AI Thinker as the ESP32 board. Good luck, if that doesn't work, take a walk in the sun and try again in a week, it worked for me, hope it works for you too.

Pros
  • . Always liked.
Cons
  • . Makes me angry.

Do not buy x2 for single board computer

I received a used one, the chip was programmed by the webcam server. But video streaming or image capture doesn't work. Tried the following approach on Linux and Windows: program it with esp32-cam-mb --->> not working. program it with ftdi232rl board --->> does not work . program it with developer setting mentioned below --->> still not working. I didn't really know how these reviews and answers solve this problem. But the Aideepen website doesn't really sell esp32-cam-mb…

Pros
  • It's ok!
Cons

do not buy in computer parts

esp-cam-mb USB connector came loose. definitely a case of cold soldering. Oddly enough, one reviewer mentioned that the soldering was fine. before that i checked usb-to-serial with putty and got no sms. The software driver was installed without any problems and Windows recognized the serial interface. The ESP camera is also not programmed. I tried programming it with an ftdi board (which is known to work with another manufacturer's ESP camera) but the serial connection never worked. tries to…

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Hardware works, drivers are finicky, supplied firmware is defective

Drivers were a tedious installation because the USB serial adapter was not recognized correctly by Windows.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • Almost everything there
