I bought this meter to monitor my portable generator run hours. Installation was easy: a little velcro. Hookup was easy too - just two spade lugs attached to the wire end of the lamp cord, which I then plug into one of the generator outlets. Accurately measures the number of hours of operation and the vibration does not bother him at all. Good counter.

I installed this on a new alternator to track run time for engine maintenance. I've done this in the past and it takes the guesswork out of when I last serviced the generator. The only thing that would make it better would be if it was a little less than the set depth of the device and free. I like analog clocks more than digital ones because if they fail they keep the elapsed time while digital clocks mostly lose the LCD screen.

I installed this on a 240 volt air compressor, I installed it in a small plastic electrical box from The Home Depot and put the wire through the wire clamp. I also mounted the hour meter box on the wall of my shed instead of directly on the air compressor to avoid exposing it to vibration from the running compressor. I don't know if it was necessary but I figured it wouldn't hurt and extend the lifespan. When I did the first run of the compressor, I was told to run it at no load for 30 minutes.
