A good charger that really delivers 75A!

I am very impressed with this charger. Makes a nice 3 stage charge ending in a safe floating state. DIP switches provide different charging options for different battery types. Haven't found anything comparable for the price. The output current is actually 75A (unlike some chargers that claim a higher maximum charge rate than usual). One possible minus point: the maximum output current is knob-adjustable, but there's no calibration for it, so it's tricky. to find out which maximum charge…

Great for nights, cloudy days and heavy use - no problem

I like the fact that it's a complement and doesn't interfere with other properties of the solar system; My inverter can also act as a battery charger but you must be careful to isolate the load applied to the inverter or it may overheat. This charger allows me to use the generator and recharge my batteries after a cloudy day without any disruption or hassle. If you buy an all-in-one inverter charger, you could damage something if you try to charge and invert at the same time. With this charger…

Does as advertised.

4 Trojan L16 1500W batteries discharged in 1 hour. The charger took 4.7 hours to charge the battery to a trickle state. A 1200W generator will charge at the full charge management setting, while a 1000W inverter generator will only charge at 75%. between the battery terminal and the positive terminal of the charger when connecting and disconnecting batteries. Sparks around batteries are not good. I have a question: when the charger is off, how much current does the charger draw from the…

Does what it's supposed to, fan runs all the time.

He does what he has to. Two things bother me: The literature mentions intelligent fan control, which is not true, the fan just runs constantly when charging, regardless of whether it is outputting 75 amps or is in float mode. I called Aims and confirmed it. I also wrote to Aims complaining that their literature was misleading in this regard. I also think it's not a big deal, the markings on both the charger and the inverter are printed upside down. When mounted vertically on the wall to allow…

This charger features power factor correction!

After studying the specs and doing a little calculation I suspected that this switching converter has active power factor correction which most other chargers don't have. I dared and I'm glad I did. The power factor of this device is 0.94 or more. That means if you're running on solar power from a generator or from the grid, it's just as efficient as them. Most other switching converters have a power factor of 0.72, which means you need to put 10 amps at 120 volts (1200 watts) across them to…

Good charger but don't trust the voltage settings!

Good, reliable, alternator-proof charger. with one (possibly very dangerous!) disadvantage: the voltage limits do not correspond to those declared. This charger was purchased to separate our generator (which is undersized and produces "dirty" power compared to our AIMS inverter) from our loads. This allows us to charge the batteries on cloudy days when there is not enough solar power from our small standby generator without interrupting our loads as they can continue to be powered by the…

Dead on Arrival (DOA)

defect straight out of the box. I bought this device in early February 2020 for LiFePo4 4s 12vDC @ 100aH battery pack for offline system. It was sold in the Inverter Store. They have an excellent reputation in the autonomous network industry. The unit arrived in Detroit from Navada in a few days. I have it open to date (February 22, 2020). The production date on the box states it was made on April 19, 2019. The batteries were ordered the same day from a well-known Chinese website and…

Pros
  • Build Quality
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

As mentioned by other reviews this charger has Active Power Factor Correction (PFC) which is very important to get more usable power out of small generators! Curiously, this feature is not advertised, which allowed me to get 35-40% more charging power from a small Honda EU-1000i compared to a similarly efficient but PFC-free Iota DLS-27-25 replacing this unit, which was like not overloading the Honda. It's nice to have a simple regulator to limit the current; My Iota required a physical…
