Not for heavy or repetitive work

Very small. Not for hard work. The mallets screw themselves into the handle. They loosen after use and must be tightened by hand. I would not recommend it for any type of repetitive or heavy metal forming or folding.

Pros
  • Excellent as a jewelry tool, for use in more delicate procedures
Cons
  • Price piggy bank

Great little hammer

Great little hammer! Not only can it be used to restore bent (some) jewelry to its original shape, it is also ideal for working with other types of precious metal work (sterling compote, candlesticks, etc.) and even pewter and copper items! Good quality and very useful tool! Indeed, DVO.

Pros
  • A Heavy duty steel handle with rubber grip for comfort and shock absorption
Cons
  • Available in black only

Very poor quality

I was very disappointed in the quality of this item. The hammer head is glued at an angle, not perpendicular to the handle. The screw-in tips are misaligned and do not fit the hammer head properly. There was glue on the handle which I believe was used to glue the head. The trunk of the head was badly scarred.

Pros
  • These hammer heads will not spark or damage precious metal surfaces
Cons
  • Expensive

A light hammer will require more effort on your part

I was trying to flatten a freshly made eyelet needle with a rubber tip. It took a few hits as the rubber tip isn't heavy at all. I also tried the nylon end for the same purpose. He straightened the wire more easily, but again the weight wasn't enough. Also, it looks like the ends of the hammer might eventually work their way loose since they aren't securely fastened. On the other hand, when I was done, the wire wasn't damaged at all.

Pros
  • Excellent as a tool on a jeweler's workbench, for use in finer processes
Cons
  • Expensive
