Well made shoes - just not for my feet

I've been running exclusively in Zero Fall shoes for a number of years. I broke my zero-drop teeth on a pair of Altra Escalante 1.5s and immediately became a fan of the responsiveness and cushioning level of the Altra EGO foam. Since then, I've also run in the Altra Kayentas, which raised the bar for running shoes for me. Unfortunately the Kayenta is discontinued (*sigh*) and my current pair is running out, so I was looking for a replacement, ideally still with zero drop. I heard a lot of good…

    Pros
    • For my fancy ankle, the zero instep design is recommended. I have several pairs and they are decent.
    Cons
    • The Altra running shoes don't have the wide toe box of running shoes. I had to go back to Timp and Lone Peak.

    Big bubbles!: my review

I've been using minimalist sneakers for years but never got around to trying a pair of Altras. I had health benefits from the job I had to do and am currently training for a marathon so I decided to pull the trigger. her. (I opened this blister to keep it from leaking so I can continue my workout.) I won't be running in them again. (Maybe I'll give it away) At least $106 wasn't out of my pocket. I go back to my $40 pair of WHITIN. I don't know if I'll ever try Altra again after this experience.

    Pros
    • my favorite brand
    Cons
    • The quality has gone down. After about 3 months of running on the treadmill, the shoes came loose at the outer seams.

    Revainrating 1 out of 5

    Disintegrate my judgement

Altra's quality no longer exists. This pair fell apart after 100 miles. The outsole started to fall off after 70 miles and the insert wore out after 100 miles.

    Pros
    • Offers improved grip on slippery surfaces.
    Cons
    • Shoelaces must not be left tied.

Changes are cool in my rating

I use this product for walking and running! These are really good shoes for sports and when they get a bit worn you can use them as work shoes. If they are suitable for your workplace

    Pros
    • Provides excellent arch support for improved stability
    Cons
    • Shoes may not be suitable for those with knee or ankle problems.

    New shoes. in my opinion

It is halfway between Escalante and Thorin. Slightly narrower in the forefoot area, but wide enough to allow the toes to be spread. Great addition.

    Pros
    • Specially designed for men's feet and fit
    Cons
    • Shoes may not be suitable for people with plantar fasciitis.

    Great shoes from Altra.

This is my first pair of Riveras. I've been wearing Altra for many years now. It appears to be a durable, lightweight shoe that will last for many miles.

    Pros
    • Great shoes. I love the bright color and the comfort!
    Cons
    • The shoe completely blew out the inside of my foot, not because of the zero dropper but because it was too tight.

    Slightly disappointed

A little disappointed. Not with a product, but with ebay. I ordered an orange pair but received a blue pair. Also, my husband and I love these sneakers. They're comfortable and don't have a huge platform, which is perfect for leg days. Full recommendation but suggest making sure you get the color you actually order.

    Pros
    • Available in multiple sizes for a custom fit
    Cons
    • Shoes may not have adequate arch support for people with flat feet.

    I love these sneakers!

So far this might be my favorite pair of sneakers. Perfect fit, light, very comfortable. I can't say anything about staying power after only a week, but now I'm 100% satisfied.

    Pros
    • Highly recommended.
    Cons
    • Goes well with socks. Disappointed with the fit. But comfortable and soft.

    Comfortable but a little tight

One review said it was a good replacement for the Escalantes, which have been my favorite running shoe for the past few years. They're stiffer than the Escalante but appear to be made with a more durable upper. That's not a compromise I would make.

    Pros
    • Made from high quality materials
    Cons
    • Shoes may not be suitable for people with high arches.

    Comfort - my new rating

old feet, plantar fascia, bruised and vulnerable but they feel great. makes my calf a little tight just needs more stretch but overall great for my old tired beat down feeling. also help to better align your lower back, that's all.

    Pros
    • Durable construction for extended wear
    Cons
    • Shoes may not provide enough traction

    Altra Rivera did not disappoint

I have bought many Altras but this is my first pair of Riveras. You didn't disappoint us. I like them. They are very comfortable and I need a pillow because I have PF and posterior tibial tendinitis and they cushion well.

    Pros
    • special offer
    Cons
    • Shoes must not be slippery

I really like these shoes as they have helped alleviate the symptoms of recurring metatarsalgia. However, they don't last long. My first pair wore out pretty quickly, so I'm giving them four stars instead of five.

    Pros
    • They feel very good and fit great. I have wide feet and my toes no longer feel pinched! :)
    Cons
    • Shoes are not durable

    Expensive but worth it

These shoes are very comfortable and well designed. After years of being a Nike snob, this brand won me over. They're expensive, but getting older requires taking care of your joints, and your shoes play a key role in taking care of your joints, which run from your feet to your back.

    Pros
    • My husband, who is a longtime Altra fan, loves these Riveras...which perfectly match the Altra's comfort and width.
    Cons
    • Shoes can be weatherproof.

Best fitting wide toe shoes like. i am sold

Finding the right shoes has always been difficult. Fingers never had enough room to unfold as they should. I am sure that I will buy Altra shoes again and probably for the rest of my life. love these shoes

    Pros
    • Excellent value for money and quality
    Cons
    • Shoes can be too stiff in certain places.

    Revainrating 4 out of 5

    Good shoes but narrow

I love the shoes and wanted them to live up to my expectations. However, the boot was too tight and I had to send it back. These are beautiful shoes and they are very light.

    Pros
    • I walk an average of 15,000 steps a day. These shoes are very comfortable and hold the foot very well.
    Cons
    • Fit may not match size

    Revainrating 2 out of 5

If you are an Escalante user, do not buy them.

I'm really torn on how to rate them. This is not a good shoe for me as a former minimalist and current Escalante runner. I was looking for something with more cushioning than the Escalante 2.5. Although it's an option on the Altra website via the shoe finder, it's not a great shoe if you're used to Escalantes. I had 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and Racer. Shoes 2.0 are better than these. The toe box is so tight and small I'm afraid my toes will rip open the upper. The soles are stiff and the cushioning…

    Pros
    • Provides natural stride and foot flexibility
    Cons
    • Shoes may not be suitable for people with narrow feet.

    Revainrating 1 out of 5

    Low and not wide toe

This is my fourth pair of altars in size 12.5. I've had both road and trail runners. They're half a size smaller and significantly narrower than any previous Altra I've bought.

    Pros
    • I ran 32 miles with easy runs and intervals. So far I'm feeling very comfortable although I wouldn't use them for a race
    Cons
    •  Fits well but falls apart

    Revainrating 1 out of 5

Not wide at all like Altras from the past

I used to buy Altra shoes because they were the only brand that fit my feet, which were weirdly wide at the toes. However, Altra has discontinued every model I've bought for years. I chose this one and was very disappointed when I put it on. Narrow and pinches the toes like everything else. Big disappointment from Altra.

    Pros
    • Very light, perfect bad knees. Very good shoes.
    Cons
    • Shoes may lack stability

    Revainrating 3 out of 5

It worked great at first, then problems

I really enjoyed walking in these shoes. It feels soft but not too soft. This is great for taller runners like me who want a neutral shoe with more cushioning. Unfortunately, one of the shoes didn't last long. After 3 weeks of regular use, the rubber on the toe of one shoe started to separate from the upper. This should absolutely not happen after about 35 miles of use. Luckily it was only 3 days until the end of the return period so go back to ebay.

    Pros
    • Comfortable and I walk 7 to 10 miles a day. No more leg pain. It's like walking on clouds!!!😊
    Cons
    • Shoes may not be breathable

    Revainrating 1 out of 5

They don't look like the Altras I know

I liked Ones, Escalantes and Torins. These rivers appear to be of lower quality. They are significantly narrower in the toe area. The heel doesn't feel secure. The pad over the toes feels cheap. They really don't look that cool. I don't like the sole. Part of me wonders if these are real Astras. Or maybe Rivera just sucks. I definitely regret paying 130 for them, I think they are too small to wear. My big toe feels like it's being pinched and barely fits on the sole. Now I'm stuck in ugly…

    Pros
    • Offers a snug, secure fit for enhanced performance
    Cons
    • Shoes may not be comfortable for people with sensitive feet.
