Comfortable but poor quality

These shoes are so comfortable I haven't gotten a single blister in them over several runs; I'm giving them 1 star though because this is the second time the toe seam has come loose. I wouldn't expect that from a €130 shoe. I've had them for exactly a month. The presence of such a seam on the toe seems to be a serious design flaw as this is obviously a high impact zone. Really disappointed.

Pros
  • Stone Guard: The updated Stone Guard provides an extra layer of protection between the trail and your feet.
Cons
  • Available in white only

roomy toe box and comfortable fit with small heels

This shoe (Altra Lone Peak 5) is comparable to Altra's Lone Peak 4.5 which I bought last year and I like it just as much. The fit is the same. Enough space in the sock. I have a narrow heel, but I can use all the lace holes and tighten the boot at the ankle to keep the heel from moving inside the shoe and slipping out. The outsole is thick but flexible with good traction. The shoes are light. I wear it almost every day.

Pros
  • Stay focused: Our MaxTrac outsole and multi-directional TrailClaw lug pattern for secure footing lets you focus on the trail ahead

SO comfortable, best in trail running

Firstly, these shoes fit true to size or maybe a little larger. I usually wear an 8 and originally bought an 8 1/2 thinking I needed to go up a size as I usually do with any hiking or hiking shoe/boot. It wasn't necessary and in fact my big toe was resting on the top of the shoe in an uncomfortable spot so I returned them and got an 8. Perfect fit, nice square toe, comfortable fit and soft feel when walking. . I highly recommend these shoes and urge you to look not only at the price but also at

Great product best for women

I bought these to replace a pair of Avia Lone Peak 4.5s I bought 3 years ago which are almost worn out. The new ones are just as comfortable and have some nice features - a longer tongue and laces with extra lace holes that my old ones didn't have. I now have to wear custom orthotics due to new foot problems and I was able to easily remove the insoles that came with the shoe and the custom insoles fit perfectly. They have all the good qualities of an old shoe (like a great sock) plus upgrades…

Great trail running shoes (especially if you like Zero Drop)

I am a big fan of the Altra brand and am planning my 40th anniversary trip to Mount Whitney and decided to go with the slightly warmer one Trail Altra. Instead of my favorite, I'm going to King MT1.5 (this line is now unfortunately discontinued, but I digress). While reading about this 22-mile adventure, I made a few recommendations for the Lone Peak 5 - good reason to get some new shoes, right?! Well the local store didn't stock my size so I let the lady talk me into buying a pair of Hawks. A…

Salomon wins against Salomon Trail Runners

foothill trails around the Salt Lake Valley every day, year-round, in all weathers. We walk an hour and a half, that's at least 3-5 miles. Also, I love hiking in my personal life and have conquered many iconic peaks. I'm doing a half dome hike in Yosemite in a few weeks and have heard so much about these boots that I wanted to try them out and maybe use them on this hike. XA PRO 3D V8. Salomon is also my favorite waterproof winter boot. They have proven themselves season after season. I've…
