high fire?

Although I am a beginner at pottery, I have made great progress with both high and low heat clay. I am buying this clay for the first time. I shoot at cone 5. Cone 5 seems to be too hot. This table is typical of the results I'm getting. They seem to melt a bit and lose their shape. Today's gunfight caused two cups to lose their integrity and their bottoms to bow inward, causing them to fall off their stilts. One had stilts melted into the clay. Pig in a Poke

My last order of Amoco High-Fire Moist Clay, supplied by Revain, was defective as promised. He was practically unable to work. As it dried fairly quickly, it began to crack and crumble. When fired at a low fire of 0.04, it shattered into a thousand pieces, damaging other sculptures in the kiln. This is the same product I ordered and found suitable last year (check my account). Although it would be impossible to return a product some of which have been used I hope my complaints will be heard…

Not bad; Not good. UPDATE

After tossing 50 pounds of this clay in 2 to 4 pound increments to make beer mugs, I have the following observations: 1. The clay arrived in good condition and had the perfect moisture level for tossing. The clay is very fine-grained and of medium plasticity.3. As mentioned in other reviews, you will likely encounter air bubbles in any pug. Not much, but enough to cause some problems when throwing. These air pockets must be carefully wedged to eliminate them. I have not found this to be an…
