Don't Expect Miracles

Luckily I lowered my expectations knowing that the 3" diameter was too big for a Forstner bit. However, with the right speed and reasonable pressure, the bit works quite well. Expect a little burning with hardwood, and better yet, avoid hardwood. For pine and poplar, the resulting cavity was clean and perfectly acceptable.

Amazing at low speeds in a hand drill!

After using this bit in a wood bit with uneven hardness across the work surface I got a little dirt on the top edge. I put the bit in a variable speed hand drill and carefully drilled a nice 3/4" deep hole. On another project, the bit did a great job on a piece of hardwood with an even texture. A good choice for those who are bored (sic).

  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember

Works well, nice red oak finish.

This was used to make "cups” in a flat gaming table accessory. The "cups" were red oak 1 1/4" deep and were made with a small 1/3 HP Wen bench drill with 10 speeds. for a while (about 10 minutes at a time) due to the relatively low power of the drill and of the very hard wood, but they were consistent and produced a very smooth finish.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Ugly Packaging
