🛥️ Stainless Steel Oval Boat Garboard Drain Plug by Amarine Made - Fits 1'' Hole, with 3/4'' Thread Review

This was a direct replacement for the plastic plugs I had on my Yamaha 190FSH. They're better than stocks. I found that the red gasket wasn't watertight and replaced the gaskets with garden hose gaskets that I had cut to size. If you do not replace the red seals that come with the kit, water will enter your boat. Don't trust red hard seals unless you tighten them with a wrench.

I bought 2 - one will stand up to the water and the other won't. The plug should screw in and press the gasket against the base, but the casting is too large and appears to be hand ground to fit. QC didn't catch any of them because it's flowing like crazy. The top of the casting is also thinner in some places than others so it doesn't seem to provide even sealing pressure even on a working one.

I like it, but the red gasket is awful: hard and won't compress. The thread can only be turned 1/4 turn. Didn't pass the suction test - before installing it, he hand-tightened it with all his might, put it in his mouth and sucked; Not sealed. I wouldn't believe it the way it is. I replaced the red seal with a black O-ring. I got more revs and was able to compress the softer o-ring. Suction test passed. Now I trust it.

Not impressed at all with this detail. As soon as I took it out of the box I knew I wasn't going to install it on my boat. The gasket is cheap plastic, the drain plug doesn't tighten enough that I'm sure it won't unscrew. The drain plug itself is not even completely round, but the open part of the gasket. Great idea for a product and it would work really well but I'm just not sure what they sent me.
