This really is the perfect size, bigger than the palm of my hand (see my photo). We have others half the size of this one. We like them a lot more, they can hold a lot of paint and in the middle you can mix colors or just paint like kids. They are light and wash well! They're also great for a birthday party as you get 15 of these colors or together with other art supplies in a birthday gift bag.

They are ideal for use with acrylic paint. They're the perfect size to hold enough paint to get the job done, but not so much that you waste it drying too quickly. They don't have finger holes but are easy to hold when needed. They're thick enough not to bend or break easily, and they're inexpensive enough that you can use them until they're completely dry and then pick up another one. I actually keep all the old ones and hang them up on my studio wall, all covered in paint.

These are great palettes for anyone planning a paint party or who needs them for an occasional cool project. I teach drawing classes with our study group at home once a month. They will survive such use for perhaps most of the year. Maybe longer. They are quite thin, but not as thin as the ones in children's paint boxes.
