When these cables first showed up, my reaction was WTF! I was expecting a regular gauge cable. They were much larger in diameter. Since I wanted to use this to power my Samsung tablet in the living room, I tried it - my factory cable broke where the wire meets the connector housing. I really like the cables, especially their extra stiffness. For my use this is perfect and the cable seems more durable where the wire connects to the case. UPDATE: Note the small burn marks on the upper left side of the unit where it caught fire and briefly caught fire when I took it out of the phone! You could smell the burning metallic smoke before it went out. So, out of the 6 cables we started with (paid for 4, got a replacement kit from Revain), 1 caught fire, 1 never worked, and 2 stopped working after a few months.
