AmazonBasics RJ45 Cheap and cheerful: my truthful feedback

There are times when you need a twisted pair cable, but as luck would have it, there is no cable at hand, or everyone is busy. Once, when I was buying my home, a high-quality Mikrotik RB951G-2HnD router, when placing an order, put a pair of twisted-pair cables of 2 meters in the basket, so to speak, for a reserve. The price of a twisted pair cable 2 meters long cost me 30 Russian rubles. The cable is supplied in a polyethylene package. Other side of the package The cable itself looks like…

Bad design. Unable to maintain 1.0 Gbps connection

I have installed a UPS/surge protection system in my home office. Given the close proximity of the UPS, my current cable (brand: made by me) was too short to reach the UPS. I have a fairly busy schedule and wasn't in a huge rush to get set up, so I decided to save myself the hassle of making my own cable and order one for just over $5. cable, and after crawling under my desk to remove my previous wrapped cable to install and wrap a new cable, I found that my computer couldn't support a 1.0 Gbps

Good cables with annoying design flaws

First of all, there are cables, you can't go wrong with them. The cables themselves look good and appear to be well assembled. Because Revain is a data center leader, you'd think they'd design the perfect network cable, but unfortunately there's an unfortunate design flaw. The nests are surrounded by thick rubber, making them difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. You can force them but they are starting to lean and I was concerned that this would damage the ports on my router. The repair is…

    Cap prevents connection from snapping

Rubber/plastic cap on each end covers too much of the RJ45 body. The cover protrudes and prevents the clip from snapping into place on some sockets. Essentially, the connector can't go far enough to engage the clip. I was able to connect it to my switch, but the device on the other end would not connect. I managed to get a precision knife to the lid and remove part of the lid to make it work (see photo). Other reviews point to the same issue. Aggravating.

Good cable - Coating too thick for use on some devices

Good cable. Just be careful as it won't fit some devices due to the plastic cover on the connector side being too thick. It ran into this when trying to connect it to a Norton Core, which has very tight tolerances for cable connections. I had to get another cable with a flat thin sleeve.

This is not a CAT 6! Buyer warning!

This is NOT a CAT 6 cable. With this I get a maximum of 100 Mbit/s compared to the CAT-5e I had laying around which gives me 450 Mbit/s from the same port.

    • Very good price

READ IT! - Cables and Connections

Listen folks who need more speed! If you need more speed from your modem to your router and not your router to your components, CALL YOUR CABLE COMPANY! This allows CAT5e to easily provide 1 gigabyte of speed! I have gigabit speed service (Comcast) and this CAT6, my CAT7 and even the new CAT8 ALL work the same! Not one iota of additional "upgrade" speed from 5e to 6-7 or 8! Here's another reason not to spend extra money on "Checkpoint 6-7-8". Guess what's in a $300-$500 router? CAT5e!

I don't have that warm and fluffy feeling

As some reviewers have pointed out, the title of the article is Cat6, but if you look at the description it just says "Transfer data at speeds up to 1000 Mbps (or up to 1 gigabit per second). Other reviewers have also pointed out that the connectors are not Cat6 connectors, but Cat5e connectors. After further research, let me see if I can clear up some of these inaccuracies made by these other reviewers. First, Cat6 cables are only truly CERTIFIED for 1 gigabyte (1000Mbps), but can support up…

Don't buy from the big store - it will satisfy all your needs!

When other manufacturers and retailers are charging close to $30 for a similar cable, you really need to understand why they're doing it. I'll give you a tip: that's because they rely on you not knowing where else to find quality cables. I bought this cable to replace a shorter cable. The longer cable was used in a hard-to-reach situation where I had to pre-place the Apple TV under a TV stand. Not perfect, which is why this cable came to the rescue. It feels strong but also flexible. It is…

Said to be good value for money

Haven't had to use this yet so can't comment on the 'internal' quality of the cable. From the outside it looks just as good as any other similar cable on the market. With WLAN at home and in all places of residence, such cables are a thing of the past for me. However, I bought this cable "just in case" while traveling. For example, I'm flying to West Virginia next month and one of my cabins that I'm staying in is in the "quiet zone" near the National Radio Telescope in Green Bank (no cellular…
