Definitely not Silpat!

Although this mat looks and feels the same as the Silpat (I have 2) this mat does not clean very easily. Used it for the first time to bake puff pastry. The top was sprinkled with sugar. Some sugar dripped off during baking and had to be removed with a lot of effort when peeling. It also left stains. See photos.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Not automatic

Product failure after 3 months

Bought to replace the silpat of some outdated brands. They seemed to work well for about 3 months of regular use, then we used them on cookies at 450F and the silicone seemed to delaminate. I think this is a product quality issue and not abuse since the specs say 480°F is the upper limit. I do NOT recommend them, I recommend spending a little more for a well-known brand.

Pros
  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • Too long to wait

I love these mats so much I bought them for all my baking sheets!

I love these mats so much! They have so much value and make a huge difference in cooking. My sister-in-law got me some for Christmas and they work so well I've bought them for all my pans. I was even able to trim one of them with scissors to fit the smaller pot I have. They are wonderful and I highly recommend them.

Thess Work Great in Baking Mats

No complaints from them except what do I do with 3 rolls of parchment paper they've made obsolete! Anyone complaining about them smelling bad or melting should read the very simple instructions before just tossing them in an oven at 500° and above - I had no problems with that. They work very well, they are very easy to clean (almost just wipe down) - can't tell how they work, other than what they're designed for because I haven't tried it?

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Perfect for what I use them for

I use them for woodworking and resin blending. You will not slip. They are smooth and slightly sticky. I don't know if I'll be using them for baking, but they make great mats for kids or dog bowls. I was expecting something smooth and non-sticky, but this works great for me because I love putting one under what I'm working on a lathe to keep it from slipping. Smooth slip off, but this one stays in place. So not what I expected but it turned out to be suitable for what I need.

Pros
  • Trial for one year
Cons
  • Available in white only

To save money. and the environment!

We use these silicone trays every time we cook in our baking pans: vegetables, chicken, potatoes, everything. While you can put them in the dishwasher, I find it easier to just wash them while they're in the pan. There's a bit of a slimy residue left after many washes, but I'd like to think it adds flavor. :) It's a good substitute for foil and I can't remember the last time we had to buy another roll. I feel really good about how much less trash we get after dinner every night. Excellent…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable

Buy It Now! in Baking Tools & Accessories

I LOVE these silicone mats. I bake/cook in the oven a lot and it's so great. I was trying to produce less waste so I needed an alternative to tin foil and parchment paper and I wish I had bought it sooner. They are super non-stick and don't even need oiling. Nothing sticks to them! The only thing is that they are difficult to wash by hand. When I put them in the dishwasher they sometimes come out with detergent still dry, but I think that's more of an issue with my dishwasher than the mats…

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Only available in Black

Not a bad idea. painful to wash (at least for us)

No matter what we do, soap seems to stick to this thing. No matter how little we use. You can smell the soap when you use it in the oven. So I'm sure we end up eating some soap, although we didn't try it like some of the others. Stains after 3rd use with heated fenders. Surprisingly for us, washing and rinsing by hand is much more difficult than the usual pan in our sinks. Not rigid so it flaps and slides when brushed, while the rigid panel is easy to clean and rinse. At least that's how it was

  • pleasant
