Description of πŸ“‘ Enhance CB Ham Radio Antenna Safety with Ancable Lightning Arrestor/Surge Protector and UHF PL-259 Male to Female RF Coaxial Connector Adapter

A great surge protector to protect your life, equipment and even your home from the hit. Ground screw connection for easy install. Run a piece of heavy gauge copper wire (8 or 10 gauge) from the grounding screw on the side of the arrestor to a 3 foot minimum length grounding rod driven into the ground. Arresters should be installed as close as possible to the equipment to be protected, often at the point where the coax cable enters the building. They can also be installed near the antenna for additional protection.

Good for mobile use.

Typical low cost arrester. It is only used to work with a portable antenna and is not recommended for permanent installation on the main antenna.

Lighting Arrestor Ready to Go

I've been using these arresters on each end of my power lines while doing a good job during recent thunderstorms here in Southern Arizona!

Cheap Chinese Faucet

If you don't value your gear, use this Chinese POS. I would come back but not worth the hassle. Just throw it away for recycling. Go to DX Engineering and buy quality connectors.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Appearance

Good basic discharger that removes static electricity build up

Good basic discharger that removes static electricity build up. Make sure you give it a good "ground" and always unplug your radios when not in use as this and any other device may or may not rescue your radios.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Has been damaged

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not the best material

Not strong at all, very thin wall around the threads, doesn't hold tight. Some people might be lucky with me, but I wasn't. I stopped taking it after a few days. I will save them for other projects but will not use them on my storm observation truck.

Pros
  • Heavy duty
Cons
  • Zero

Works best as intended in audio and video accessories

Tested on a spectrum analyzer with tracking generator, minimal insertion loss (<2.0dBm). Tested on a vector network analyzer with a good 50 ohm impedance load at various frequencies. Works best at <50MHz but performs satisfactorily in the 50-512MHz range, 1.25dBm insertion loss.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Anything I can add

Lightweight Surge Arrester Works for Grounding Needs

The item works for my application which is a counterpoise of connections to use a QRP antenna via S0-239 on the rear radio. Threaded grounding screws. But the transcover is grounded, which is also suitable for radio grounding in the mobile, where there are constant problems with the radio frequency.

Pros
  • A Dream Come True
Cons
  • Mystery

Light weight surge arrester works for grounding

This item is suitable for my application which is a counterpoise to use a QRP antenna over S0-239 on the rear radio. In a hut, this arrester can be used Lightning restrictions are dying out - for small threaded bolts. But the transcover is grounded, which is also suitable for radio grounding in the mobile, where there are constant problems with the radio frequency.

Pros
  • Grounding screw for easy installation
Cons
  • I will add later
