Works but prepare to play around a bit

I got this to replace a broken headphone jack on a Turtle Beach headset. I watched a few videos and decided it was worth trying the repair. I chose these forks as they mostly have solder points and my shaky hands are a bit more forgiving. In addition to the connectors, I bought a cheap soldering set because I didn't have any. I removed the old defective connector and disconnected all the wires. I prepared the wires by covering their ends with a small amount of solder. Then I grabbed a spare…

Not the best but still good value for money

I don't use a lot of these but sometimes I need one or two for a project I'm working on . I don't usually need high reliability or accuracy, so I'm looking for a decent and cheap fork. These spark plugs work well for my purposes and I'm glad to have them in the parts basket. However, they are not synonymous with branded parts that you pay three times as much for. I spent 10 years in the US Air Force soldering aircraft audio headset jacks on a B-52H.

And I have to say I've had a damn hard time using these connectors. So I dispute the seller's claim that they are "easy to work with" and "no need to be a pro". More on that aspect of the product later, but first the bottom line: I have doubts about the quality of these connectors because I had to do 3 tries and blow 3 of them before I got one to work. And the only reason the third one worked for me is because I used epoxy. Not to change the solder, but after the soldering is done and you crimp
