NB - only reads and clears codes on Japanese cars.

3 stars because it only reads and erases codes of Japanese cars with JOBD protocol. It doesn't handle real-time data with Japanese cars, it handles real-time data with OBDII protocol cars, but I already have a scanner for that. So if you want to read Japanese car data in real time, you should get another scanner.

Pros
  • Robust surface
Cons
  • Very expensive

Easy to use, fits code readers and scan tools

I bought this to help diagnose the cause of the 'Check Engine' light on my 2003 Celica. Easy to use, just plug it in and it will tell you what is causing the error so you can pinpoint the problem and then you can turn off the light with the tool. It also worked great with my friend's 2008 Chevy truck, in addition to what he says for Japanese cars. Well built, solid construction. Pleasant to have, glad I bought it.

Fits my 2010 Toyota Sienna XLE

Works great on my 2010 Sienna. Read and reset the fault code (O2 sensor malfunction). I can fix that myself; So the $44 JOBD scanner price saves me $400 on dealer repairs. I used to buy a non-JOBD scanner that was a lot cheaper but didn't work. If you have a Japanese car, I think you should get a JOBD reader no matter what non-JOBD manufacturers say (that they work with such-and-such Japanese cars).

Perfect! Authentic! light !

The JP700 I received was authentic and PERFECT! It worked the first time and got me the code I needed for a 2004 Toyota Tacoma. Note. Make sure to plug it in before turning on the car. as the manual strongly recommends making sure the car is off when plugging or unplugging it. Very happy ! You really can't plug it in wrong as a male connector has one side much wider than the other. A very useful tool. It's really nice to have a standalone tool with an easy to read screen and no Bluetooth or…

Worked on 3 Japanese machines.

Wife's corolla fails inspection O The sensor is incomplete. Had to go through the ride a few times and the scanner read when it was done and ready to go through. Daughter's Nissan started, a scanner from a computer read misfire in cylinder 3, the mechanic tried the spark plugs and wires, it turned out to be the ignition coil. My Prius car wasn't ready, my wife drove it for a week, took it in for inspection and it passed. For my needs this fits the bill as it goes beyond reading and clearing…

It's a janitor

Of the three scanners I tried, this one did everything I needed. So far I've used it on a 2004 Toyota Corolla and a 2001 Nissan Frontier. He was able to read and erase the codes on both cars. I've previously tried the slightly more expensive Foxwell NT301, which worked well with the Nissan Frontier but not at all with the Corolla. And a very cheap Oxgord scanner that worked on the Corolla but not the Frontier. I'm wondering if he's more versatile because the first menu on this scanner asks what
