Worked great for me.

I had to replace the spindle in my door hardware after discovering that the broken handle I was replacing came with the spindle attached and I couldn't remove it. I was a little apprehensive at first when I held the new spindle next to the old one to compare the length and the new one was a bit longer, but I tried it in the door and it worked great.

Pros
  • Best in the Niche
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

Do-it-yourself work that pays off.

These New England doors don't close well over time. Temperature and humidity change. Too heavy for loops. The spindle is easy to twist and break when trying to force the door closed to latch it. This replacement is probably a better design than the original. Installation took a while to find the right fit but nothing complicated.

Pros
  • Cool Product
Cons
  • Weight

Very easy to install. Measure the item!

Although it doesn't look quite like the original part, it fits perfectly and works exactly as intended. I think this part is better designed than the original Andersen doorknob part. I highly recommend. Be sure to measure the length of the replacement part. I know it's obvious, but quickly measure the part you're replacing.

Pros
  • Great Construction
Cons
  • Unbelievable Price

Great spare part!

I installed an Andersen with exact measurements on my patio door. Home Depot told me that Andersen makes parts like the spindle and that I would have to buy a complete set. It's all great until you find out it's over $280! This spindle is a great spare part! Save money until you actually need the whole set! I replaced the spindle and added a liquid wrench and that was it! Works like new!

Pros
  • Still satisfied
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Andersen spindle, 3-3/4 length

This spindle is an excellent replacement for the original spindle. It's easy to install and the instructions that come with it are clear and include diagrams. As other reviewers have pointed out, the image quality is better than the original. A hex wrench is required to remove the handles from the old spindle and tighten them on the new one. It may take a bit to undo the panels to attach the handles, but I didn't have to take them off. Multiple lengths are available so measure what you need…

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • New competitors have appeared

Poor quality, needs lubrication to last even a reasonable amount of time.

This product works great at my home on the Gulf Coast. The design is good but the quality is terrible. I have 7 French double doors from Andersen (hurricane proof, very expensive) with shatterproof glass. The brass buttons are very well made and the other internal parts are also of good quality. The shank connecting the outer and inner grips completely corroded in about a year, making it impossible to remove from the grip, so the $95 grip had to be thrown away. I just ordered 2 more and crappy…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • I don't remember, but there was something

Excellent spindle replacement. Inexpensive repair of a defective door lock!

The doorknob on one of our back doors always felt a bit "wet". As you reached for the door, the knob seemed to buckle inward. Sometimes when you pushed to open the door, the handle would stay down. I finally got around to taking the lock off the door and realized what was wrong. The original spindle that Anderson supplied when the door was installed was partially broken. When I received the new spindle from Revain, I immediately noticed that it was very different from the original Anderson…

Pros
  • beautiful thing
Cons
  • hard to say
