Review on Andersen Spindle Long Frenchwood Hinged by Ryan Gillett

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Poor quality, needs lubrication to last even a reasonable amount of time.

This product works great at my home on the Gulf Coast. The design is good but the quality is terrible. I have 7 French double doors from Andersen (hurricane proof, very expensive) with shatterproof glass. The brass buttons are very well made and the other internal parts are also of good quality. The shank connecting the outer and inner grips completely corroded in about a year, making it impossible to remove from the grip, so the $95 grip had to be thrown away. I just ordered 2 more and crappy shafts to get my doors working. (4 this month) Now I've replaced most of them multiple times (700-800 in parts). Now I fill the shaft ends with heavy duty waterproof grease to slow things down. ALL EXPENSES COULD BE AVOIDED if the shafts (key 12.00) are made of high quality stainless steel or a corrosion resistant metal). My advice to anyone replacing these bars and grips is to dip them in grease before inserting them into the grip. .Excellent doors except for these components and external hinges.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
