Description of 🔬 Andonstar AD208 Coin Microscope: 8.5 Inch Screen, 260X LCD, USB Digital Microscope for PCB Repair, Soldering, Coin Inspection - Lab Handheld Microscopes

【8.5 inch Adjustable Screen & Capture Entire Coins】This digital microscope is with 8.5 inch big LCD screen, can capture entire coin(Max diameter: 3cm). No need to be tied to a phone or computer, bright and good resolution and large enough and has excellent image quality. 【Adjustable Metal Stand with two Fill Lights】The bracket can be tilted forth and back, providing you more operating space. The scope has 8 built-in LED lights, plus stand with two adjustable/flexible LED lights that you can adjust to an optimal position and adjust the brightness. This is especially useful for uneven surfaces that cast shadows. 【Easy to Setup and Focusing】It's very easy to use. Power on the microscope by pressing the power button. To get the clear image, adjust the distance between lens and objects by knob on bracket, rotate the focus controller as well. The lower the height, the greater the magnification is(max 260X). Compared to those large value magnification does not mean the microscope is good performance, actually depended on many factors. 【Capture and Record 】This microscope have a native 2MP CMOS HD sensor and micro-SD card slot. Insert the TF card(not come with microscope), you could take a photo and shoot a video, also it's possible to take a still photo while the video is being recorded. 【Muti-functional Microscope】Used to PCB assembly inspection, especially SMT work; jewelry repair and jeweler’s/maker’s mark identification; watch inspection:inspect watch parts for damage; coin and stamp collecting: take images of coins and stamps; look at fossils, bugs, plants and so on.

Great little microscope!

Bought this for an old friend who is losing his sight. He is a jeweler and that allows him to do the work he has lost the ability to do. The large screen and the simple operation are convincing.

Cons

Ideal for sorting your coin collection.

Worked very well at minimum magnification. I could just see the whole penny. I've also increased my mineral collection, but I'd rather have a stereoscope for 3D viewing of ore samples.

Pros
  • Quality workmanship
Cons
  • Not as good as described

More than I expected.

The image quality is quite good and more than adequate for SMD soldering thanks to the built in illumination of this device. I don't need the ability to take photos or videos but it may be useful for someone keeping an eye on this product. The knobs and gears in the stand height adjustment are a bit clunky and can wear out quickly, but with a little lithium grease and a gentle hand they should hold up.

Pros
  • 1 year trial period
Cons

Not recommended.: Binoculars and scopes

Gear delivery on time. Poor quality packaging. The battery is defective and cannot be charged. The poor quality of the graphics on the function keys below the display and on the remote control do not help in any way with operation or setup. Orienting the screen along the horizontal axis is useless, its rigidity is not enough to support its own weight. The instruction manual is a joke. I do not recommend it to anyone.

Instead I would suggest using the AD207

I have tried several Andonstar microscopes and the AD207 has been the best so far. I ordered this (AD208) thinking it was an upgraded version of the AD207 but it wasn't. The AD208's image quality is inferior to the AD207 and more akin to the cheaper microscopes $99 and under. Although the screen is larger (8.5 inches vs. 7 inches on the AD207), there's really no advantage to that larger screen. The 7 inch screen is ideal for any task. So it's not a bad microscope but for the same price you can…

  • . Good workmanship
Cons

Great image quality

I was a bit worried when I saw the other bad image quality rating but I think they have a bad machine. The one I received is fantastically clear. I have no trouble focusing, near, far, wherever you are, soldering. I will say there are a few plastic parts that seem cheap and worries me considering the warranty is only 1 year. Also, and this is important, there is screen lag at 1080P. I lowered the resolution to 720P and the lag is almost invisible. This can be an issue when soldering, but it…
