Confirmation of what others have mentioned. Ours have evolved from a metal circle to a plastic square. Feel better, now we can access our main shutoff valve for maintenance or in case of an emergency. Durable and well made.

Purchased for our newly installed curb gauge cap. Turns out we don't actually need this to open the lid, but this item helps to easily remove the lid/cover from the meter. For the record, we are based in Richardson, TX and it works with new meter box covers installed in 2019/2020.

Although this key didn't quite match my counter top I modified it to work by sanding the end of the key down a bit . It is well made from brass and heavy enough to easily lift a steel lid. If the wrench isn't right for your application, perhaps a long, wide-headed bolt could do the job?

Cast brass construction so strong enough but dimensions not listed in product description so too big for my York gauge box. Since the image is shown in the "Description" of the original product, why can't they provide another image with dimensions so people know exactly what they're getting? Would have saved me the hassle of sending it back.

The only way to access the plumbing disconnected from our home is to remove the sidewalk meter's round metal cover. This key fits perfectly into the curved keyhole on the lid and is made of metal (brass?). When you insert the key, turn it to retract the locking mechanism, which allows you to lift the lid. So if you need to turn off the water in an emergency, you can easily find it. The last thing you want to do is search the tool chest for the key!

Very reliable and looks great! I can well imagine using it to lift a heavy farm water meter cover. Unfortunately "that is not the key you are looking for", at least not in our city. The dimensions in the listing do not give enough information to know if the key will fit in the counter cover or not. The only way to know is to buy one and find out. If the ad had an accurate diagram of the hole it was meant to fit (with dimensions) it would be easier to tell if it would fit before you buy the…
