Works great with hazelnuts which is why I bought it. Another nutcracker I had just couldn't crack hazelnuts - they were out of his control. So if it works so well with "difficult" nuts like hazelnuts, it certainly works with other varieties as well.

Tired of yet another unsuccessful attempt to crack a nut with an ordinary nutcracker, but also nearly injured, I climbed Revain to find a decent one. That's great! Works perfectly. Just get it. You will be safe and your nuts will be cracked.

I bought this because it was advertised as "The Nutcracker". Came"Cleaner for chestnuts". I have no chestnuts. I wanted to use it for almonds. The almond shell was too small for this device to crack. This may work well for larger nuts but this was a disappointing purchase for me.

The word "NUTCRACKER" in the main title is WRONG. This is CHESTNUT CLEANING. Don't even think about using it to crack open nuts like almonds, hazelnuts, or walnuts. Aluminum is too brittle and too soft to crack these nuts. Even if you use it for chestnuts, it will be a long and uncomfortable process, it just doesn't feel good in your hands.

Brilliant idea - much easier than risking a paring knife and going back and forth. Gave this to my parents who are huge chestnut fans and love how easy it is to peel the chestnut after cutting it and then microwave the chestnuts for about a minute. Delicious! 1 star removed due to possible concern with one of the reviews about the blade coming off or having black parts?

I am not a nutcracker, but a son of nutcrackers. But I can crack nuts until the nutcracker comes. The thing works great. Who would have thought that you could upgrade the good old Nutcracker!? But they did. Without getting into the science, I bet you can crack nuts 29.5% faster and 68.75% less mess than traditional crab claw cracking, which makes a huge mess with a traditional nutcracker. Hope this review helps. :-)
