Perfect for my needs

Received new old 2008 stock in a factory sealed box with a slightly dated software CD and console cable. Installation on my SMT module was easy and updating the firmware was easy. This card just went out of support but I expect it to last many years and save a few bucks over the latest one. Contrary to some previous reviews, setting up SMTP authentication for email notifications was fairly easy, possibly due to the latest firmware. It has a ton of features, far more than I'll ever use, otherโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Modern

While this card is inherently expensive, it is essentially an ethernet card for your APC UPS, it works and is a must have , if you need more than one computer to respond to power outages. One thing to note is that the software needed to respond to events over Ethernet is included on this board, the software that comes with the UPS does not have the option to respond to network events react.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Infinitely slow

They are required for APC SMX devices

I love these boards and install them in all my APC SMX UPSs. It's useful to know what's going on with oops and set up alerts. I've asterisked them because the seller doesn't include a serial port/console cable to set up this unit. I contacted the seller and he told me that these cards never come with console cables. Well I've bought over 50 of these in the past and they always included a console cable. I think I just got lucky 50 times. I can recommend these.

So far so good, but.

Finally got around to installing them in two UPS units at work. The utility that was supposed to find the Network Management Card could not find it. The card's default IP address, 192.168.1.5 (mask 255.255.255.0), was on a different subnet than our local network (192.168.0.x). We had to (manually) reset the IP address on one of the network computers to 192.168.1.200 (from 192.168.0.200) before the computer could "see" the Network Management Cards. After that, we could use the browser to viewโ€ฆ

Good hardware is a shame for software.

I had the Network Management Card installed, working and configured, but I needed to take the final step, setting up email (SMTP) notifications. This is an important and fundamental function. I would have thought APC would put this through its paces; up and down, but no. (APC doesn't test much, I see!) The attractive web interface software got stuck in an endless reboot loop and finally showed the strange message "The application is not compatible with this APC operating system". No reset. inโ€ฆ

The card works, it was new, but the card was OLD!

I am ordering a new status card and am receiving a new status card. I install the map and log into the web portal and the screens don't look like they appear on the web. I look and you would look. Installed firmware from 2010! Then I looked a bit more and the production date of the cards was 2010! This card has been in the box for 8 years! Well, I keep updating the firmware released in late 2018 (which works very smoothly) and the card works great. People have asked why it's so expensive, andโ€ฆ
