Won't hold vacuum

Won't hold vacuum. I have a 1999 Toyota Camry. If you press the vacuum on the yellow line when the engine is off it should hold the vacuum but this one was starting to leak. I checked the vacuum line, everything is fine. I bought another brand and it held the vacuum. Overall, the build quality isn't that bad. What I got could have been a lemon.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers

good part wrong assembly 96 Rav4

I damaged my original part while repairing my car and ordered it as a replacement. While the VSV itself worked great, I had to take it off the mount it was in and reuse the original (mount in last photo would be correct). Otherwise I would have to lengthen the wiring harness and get longer vacuum hoses or stretch them so much that they are permanently taut and could break out over time. The mount has curved posts that hold the plate to hold the VSVs which are kind of paint but it worked in the…

Not OEM but this EGR VSV will work. Save money.

When replacing the head gasket on my 2001 Toyota Camry, this EGR VSV broke. I bought an original Aisin VSV at a local LKQ Pick Your Part store for less than $9. I didn't bring a tester or a 9 volt battery, so I just took a chance. After installation, the CE light came on again. I took the VSV out and checked it. No clicking when power is applied. Got this aftermarket from Revain and tested it. A click can be heard when switching on. Resistance and continuity not checked. I installed it behind…

Seems to be working well so far

Camry LE '96 2.2l. received P0401. I was almost certain this was a bad modulator since I couldn't evacuate the bottom port, but I bought it just in case. When I tested my old VSV it had a vacuum leak when the car was off so I replaced that too and everything seems fine, the P0401 has been gone for a few weeks now and the car runs better. See "sRjVDcvUYH8" on YouTube for troubleshooting tips. VSV Test: You will need a vacuum pump/gauge such as Harbor Freight 63391, a Dorman 47309 hose adapter…
