The blue filter is a good product.

We bought this product for our son's house and it has shown great results in our home. We recently bought another product with 3 filters and the results were not as good as our original blue filter. . This is a good buy for well water filtration.

Pros
  • Handy Item
Cons
  • Expensive

The housing, mount and filter are very good but the cheap plastic key that comes with it is a piece of junk that broke on first use. When you buy this device; Go to Home Depot's plumbing department and get a wrench with a long strap that fits a 6 3/8 inch diameter, which worked great. I noticed an immediate drop in chlorine in the water, so while the filter and housing are exactly what I need, buy a strap wrench as well. I have two 10" filters that I installed 22 years ago and the quality of…

Excellent for under sink and countertop filtration

Heavy duty construction. Install it in front of the water softener to filter out the chlorine in the city water so that the tar layer in the softener lasts longer. I bought a spare O-ring, silicone grease, and a spare filter cartridge so I'll be ready when it's time to change the filter (6 months to a year depending on water flow - good for 50,000 gallons or until water pressure hits the desired level falls). . becomes problematic). The cartridge is expensive (around $49), but it's worth it for

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Unreliable

In general I am satisfied.

My only beef with the description "No pressure release button required". Removing the filter housing to replace the filter was quite a challenge. Having had no luck with the wrench provided I switched to a rubber band filter wrench, which is usually sufficient for projects like this, but no luck! It wasn't until I partially unscrewed the outlet that the pressure was released, at which point I was able to remove the filter very easily. I was hoping the replacement job wouldn't require…

Perfect replacement for an old GAC filter

I bought this unit to replace a four foot GAC filter that was too old to change and smelled like city water. Installation went smoothly, had to buy adapters as the filter has a 1" inlet/outlet, but my installation was only 3/4". Overall the quality of the product was top notch, thick plastic construction, heavy duty painted metal bracket. . Not sure if they improved the plastic wrench as another reviewer complained but the wrench didn't feel cheap at all, thick construction and worked great…

  • Lots of positive vibes

  • No power

Part of the clean drinking water team!

I live in a cottage by the lake in the mountains of northern New England. The house is supplied with water from the lake. Initially, it was completely unprocessed and suitable for toilets, bathing, and washing, but not drinkable. That meant buying bottled water to drink, cook, brush your teeth, etc. It wasn't a big deal until we decided to live. in the house all year round. I built a system that starts with a backwashed coarse dirt filter. Next is the Big Blue APEC fine filter, followed by this
