Bought wrong size.

It's huge! I was trying to find a small size for a 5.5 gallon tank. It said that size 6 is universal and will fit most filters. Obviously after spending so much time checking all the different options and sizes I bought the wrong one. UPDATE***** I bought some filter bags and just cut open the Zorb API package. It worked well but after some more research on different filter media I decided to switch to Purigen and have not looked back since!

Ideal for filter accessories

I put a piece of driftwood I bought at a fish store in the aquarium and it made the water terribly cloudy. I read on a forum that this will purify the water and it did! I have a Tidal 110 back filter and just put it in place of the carbon bags and in a few days my water went from almost opaque to crystal clear. I set up a subscription that is delivered every eight weeks so I can change it as I clean my tank. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • You could have chosen a newer model

Battle of Tannins: Filter Accessories

Bought to rid our KOI aquarium of tannins. This was due to a lack of knowledge that home-bought driftwood can contain these bacteria. Well, this tank is built to look natural. The bacteria are so big that the color of the water is not like tea but like dark chocolate. Instead of draining the tank, I use this product along with frequent water changes. I'm hoping to deplete the TANNINS with H2O changes and for the BioChem Zorb API to remove them from the driftwood. I recommend using this product.

One word: AMAZING! suitable for aquarium pumps and filters

I have struggled with tannins in my aquarium for YEARS. I have a turtle tank with a large piece of mopani wood. While the forest is beautiful, there was no brown water. I am putting together a new aquarium for my beloved pet and have decided that the tree is to go. I was sick of the muddy looking water and wanted a clean, clean tank. And if that meant the firewood had to go, so be it. Well I happened to see another turtle tank owner mention this product so I figured why not? Zorb in, start…

  • ideal for a small house

Cleans tannins AMAZING

First photo: Low water level with extremely heavy tannins coming off the wood. Second photo: the right level of water, the same amount of tannins. It's a bit clearer because the water level is higher. THAT'S WHEN I INSERT THE FILTER (around 3pm). Third photo: Taken a few hours later. A small difference (see back panel), but hardly noticeable. Fourth photo: taken the next morning (about 8:30). It's even clearer live. Honestly, I'm amazed at how quickly it worked. My fish are SO HAPPY. And I'm…

Works neatly

First of all, some fun chemistry. There are two methods to remove small particles from a liquid: decanting and filtering. During decanting, a chemical compound is added that binds to the particles, rendering them insoluble. There are commercially available aquarium products for this purpose and you can have clean water within MINUTES. However, these insoluble components are deposited everywhere in your aquarium (on plants, on gravel, on decorations, on walls) and thus contaminate your aquarium.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
