Guarantee Gift: Tool Kits

Bought for my son for Christmas. Everyone needs a set of tools in their car. In the event of a breakdown, everything is included. The only thing that confuses me is the packaging, most of the tools fell apart in transit. Easy to reattach but tedious to do all at once.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Quality

Not very good at tools and equipment

I ended up in my mother-in-law's car wanting a cheap emergency tool kit. The tools were in a mess when I received them. It was almost impossible to keep them in a suitcase. I ended up finding a tool bag for her. The socket wrench works, all other typical cheap tools. I'll gradually replace them with better stuff anyway. I wouldn't give this away.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Weight

disappointed with the presentation

Arrived in a mess and without the zip ties shown in the photo. I panicked at the mess and the obvious missing zip ties, which I had to frantically check to see if anything was missing (luckily not, but had to go downstairs anyway out of concern about missing things). Looks like someone has used it before and just thrown everything back (in fact the socket wrench had a socket attached. The tools seem to be of really good quality just let down by the mess and lack of zip ties.

Pros
  • hands free kit
Cons
  • very expensive

No voltmeter

So I got my tool kit without a voltmeter. The manual for the voltmeter was in the bag but not for the voltmeter itself. When I emailed Apollo Tools they basically scammed me and told me to call their parts department to sort the problem out. Is it customer service? I noticed that the picture on the front of my tool bag didn't have a voltmeter but a tire pressure gauge and that was in my bag. It was completely wrong. So buy it if you want to play Russian Roulette - you may or may not get the kit

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only

Comfort and value for money

I bought this kit specifically because of the price. That's the main reason why I rated it so highly. I wanted to have a set in my performance gear bag because I always need a small tool to fix a rack, pedal or other small problem. This kit contains ninety percent of what I need for the repair. The set is a lot heavier than I expected and the tools are actually a bit better than I expected. With proper care, they should last for years when used for occasional minor repairs. Please note that…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No machine

A decent basic tool set that doubles as a storage case.

I'm hardly handy and just wanted to keep the basic tools in the car for the sake of the tools themselves. I make my own oil, brakes, rotors, headlights, fluids and other basic maintenance. Unfortunately I made the mistake of buying this tool kit for a Japanese made car. Most of the car's interior and lighting is assembled without tools, but I couldn't even remove the engine cover with this kit (it took me 10mm). The bits are SAE compliant so I ended up replacing a few SAE bits with free metric…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable
