The hose is flexible and I'm sure some people can bend it but I haven't had any problems. I was able to cut it out with no problem. It does the job.

I have used this with both a regular air hose with pump and a CO2 diffuser. It stayed on the air-emitting end, but when it reached the receiving end, the tube allowed the air to escape around the intake ledge instead of being channeled in and out of the intake. The check valves appear to be fine, but a minor complaint is that there were no arrows to indicate flow direction for simplicity.
