If you have a 3M water filter under your sink you know what the cost of replacing it is. And it's not cheap. I'm not saying it filters water as well as the original 3M filter, but it works and the water tastes good. The specs are pretty good, so you're still getting clean water for about half the price. It's still an activated carbon block and the micron rating is good. You have to make the choice for yourself. For me it works fine.

We have used two such filters in the past with no problems. After rinsing the filter for 5 minutes, the water tasted great even after turning on the faucet for just a few seconds. However, we have found an issue with this latest model. It tastes like chlorine and we have to run the tap much longer than usual (about 1 minute) to get rid of the chlorine taste. We followed the same installation procedure as the previous two filters, so we're not sure why this one had an issue.

I bought this to replace the filter filter and it definitely fits and I haven't had any water flow issues. BUT - it doesn't actually filter as well as a filter: I had absolutely no chlorine taste or smell with the filter filter, but this one smell of chlorine (fluoride? I don't know exactly what that is) is strong enough that I can't drink water. I'm throwing this one away and ordering a filter. Replaced the 3M filter with a filter of this brand. A brand new 3M filter picks up my TDS (total soluble solids) meter water between 120 and 50ppm. I measured my tap water before changing the filter and it was 125ppm. After installing this filter and running water for 5 minutes my meter reads 120ppm RTD No change?!?!? Bought this to save a few bucks and it actually cost me more. I have been using this product for over a week now and I have health concerns for my family. Problems with plumbing through the filter! After two months of normal use under my kitchen sink, the filter is now releasing carbon through the line. Due to the low water pressure I had to clean the aerator twice which even flooded the device under the sink!
