Ideal for 10 to 20 gallon tanks

They are designed to fit 10 to 20 gallon tanks. I have two (one on each corner) for a gravel filter in a 15 gallon hospital aquarium. They're at max level and aren't blowing on a permanent resident of the tank, an African cichlid whose tail has been chewed off. The tail grew, but only from the middle to the bottom half, so a strong current could blow it away. This doesn't happen unless it swims right past the nozzle. They feed the gravel pack easily and efficiently. They are also very quiet and

Breather and drive filter

Absolute perfection for my 20 long gravel packs. Operates the biological filter and aerates through the included (and adjustable) venturi mechanism. The entire unit is adjustable - not just the venturi tube, but also the pump power and throw angle. I use it partially in the top of the intake pipe under the gravel pack (it mounts on the side of the tank or can stand alone). Alone and with the maintenance cleaning, the aquarium is healthy and beautiful (even living plants - yes, that is possible…

Swiss Army Knife with Heads

I bought this pump to use on a do it yourself canister filter project. I've since used it for almost everything it was designed for. I have a model 20. Each model is numbered according to the tank size recommendations. All pumps are submersible, can be installed with suction cups or over the rim, have adjustable flow control and pumps over 20 can change the direction of water flow. Connect a water transfer hose to it, add aeration/bubbles for gas exchange and even filter the water with a quick…

Adjustable flow is great

I don't really know how much 127 GPH (AC PH 20) flow really is. I read some reviews and FAQs but still wasn't sure about the river. I used to buy powerheads which I thought would go well with my 20 gallon tank but ended up with the equivalent of a hot tub. But I bought it anyway. Almost enough in my 20 gallon flow that I can easily feel it at the other end of the tank when fully open. After a few minutes I noticed some of my fish were having trouble with the new flow (I have a HOB at the other…

After 6 months of use it got very noisy

I have a 50 gallon tank that has been running continuously for 36 years. The twin-bar gravel pack worked with two Hagen heads from the start until one of them simply failed earlier this year. I wanted to buy another one, but this model is sold out today. The Aquaclear 20 is from the same company so I was hoping for the same performance as the previous model. But that didn't happen. The first one I ordered made noise as soon as I turned it on and I sent it back for replacement. The replacement…

Perfect powerhead!

I have half a dozen powerheads. This line is by far the best but for some reason has the worst publicity. If you search the internet for top-notch minds, this one almost never shows up in the top ten. This is the only fully adjustable powerhead I've found. Outlet, aerator inlet and flow are adjustable. The optional pre-filter (that's a whole other review) is well designed. With the right configuration, it can even be used as an independent filter/aerator/water mover. Simply place the biocarrier
