I use the inside of my mounted mechanical filters. I remove the activated carbon filter and use it in a mesh bag. I put the predicted sponge on the water intake and these ceramic bio balls in and my aquarium ecosystems are great. Find out and buy!

Increases the pH value of the track! I added this to a month old tank that had previously had a stable pH. I then watched my pH rise with no further changes in the tank. So I put the bag of ceramic rings in some tap water (pH 7.4) to see if the rings raised the pH. I tested the water after 2 days and it's 8.8+! I made a second try just to be sure. These rings raise the pH of your aquarium to unsafe levels!
