Description of Aquapapa Bio Sponge Filter 4-Pack for Up to 10 Gal Breeding Fry Betta Shrimp Turtles Nano Fish Tank Aquarium

Sponge filter is good for aquarium and provides both mechanical and biological filtration. The air infusion chamber produces numerous minute bubbles which promote gas exchange and increase dissolved oxygen level in tank water. Just connect the unit with an air pump thru airline tubing and provide both aeration and filtration for your tank. The sponge traps waste particles mechanically and cleans water without trapping baby fish. They are useful for as breeding filter or as secondary filter. Or they can be used as pre-filtration unit by fitting to an external or a top filter. Recommended Max.tank size: 5 gal. Product dimensions: 2.0"D X 4.75"H.

Great, but smaller than I thought!

They are tiny, very tiny. Of course he's talking about measurements, so if you really LOOK at the ruler you're good to go :) I didn't do that. Although they are still great. I use two in a heavily stocked 10g tank (and no HOB filter). I use one of these, plus a larger one, in another 10G tank with a few guppies and (usually) neriti snails. No complaints here, just wish the foam was a little denser.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • New competitors

The best quality among aquarium pumps and filters

This is a sponge filter. Yes. Like everyone else. But they are very well made. High quality, comfortable sponges, beautiful and heavy base. Not cheap plastic at all. They are as small as I hoped my nano aquariums would be. I use two in a 5.5 gallon tank with a divider in the middle. One filter per page. I will definitely be buying more as I will be replenishing my collection with small tanks. I use small cymbals with baffles for my Betta collection.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • So-so

Great little sponge filter.

After doing a little research and finding out how great sponge filters are, I had to get my hands on them. I'm new to betta fish owners and hated the filter in my 3 gallon tank. So I switched to this filter and so far so good. My betta feels great and it's good that I don't get in the way of any other filter. I keep the old filter in the tank to hold back the good bacteria while the new sponge filter takes over.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Something different

Sponge filters are the best secret!

These little filters are great for small bowls and tanks, I would say 2.5 gallons and up. If you want to get one, you might as well get 4 and have a few on hand if you want a different betta (they're like chips, you can't just have one)! Ideal for aquariums with young fish and shrimp! You can also use them in combination with a hanging filter in any size aquarium for extra oxygenation and biological filtration. None of my bettas have ever objected to a sponge filter - it creates bubbles but…

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Perfect for Nanos - like Aquapapa

I use these tiny 5 gallon sponge filters in my 2 gallon nano shrimp tank. They are easy to hide behind plants and tree stumps. I don't use a riser or modify it for air stones like some people insist. I appreciate the large bubbles that move the upper water and encourage gas exchange. My shrimp are healthy, happy and every morning I find thin sponges covered in shrimp. I've also upgraded a dozen more of them with high quality 30ppi sponges for large aquariums. This way they function like…

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Exchangeable
