not a bad camera for my purposes

I wanted a camera that would stream video over my local wifi so I could move around as needed for different projects. I use it to monitor 3D prints or babysit in the garden and it does the job well (if you know the limitations). It doesn't have autofocus, so you'll have to manually focus the camera. It's supposed to be a cheap camera module, so if you need some sort of autofocus, you'll have to pay more for that feature. This module manages to transmit up to 30 frames per second at 1080Pโ€ฆ

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • The cable is shorter than others

These are V1 cameras, not V2

I took a chance because. Well the ad says V2 and the seller even answered the question that of course it is V2, anyone selling V1 is a fake seller. so I definitely bought from Arducam. what did i get Camera V1 of course! The included documents even say V1. whether it is YOUR version number or corresponds to a Raspberry Pi. The description clearly says V2. What a waste of time! Returned as this camera is NOT a V2 camera and therefore not suitable for my needs. A NOTICE. This will NOT work withโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Durable test results

Will the clicking ever stop?

WOW - ok good part first. It's plug and play for the Raspberry Pi - just plug it into the camera slot, turn on the camera in the Pi configuration and away you go. The picture is partly what I expected, I never got to test the night vision - too much noise to use this device in every situation. clickely-klak alerts anyone near the device. While it takes good shots, it's a bad idea to draw attention to yourself in a moment like this. For my purposes of recording wildlife, no, not even close. I'mโ€ฆ

Difficult to stand and unable to concentrate.

Maybe received the lemon, not sure. I have many Arducam cameras. I bought a 170 degree ultra wide camera. Three corner cameras are sold under the same product ratings. The lens did not fit through the plastic stand. I wrote a question and the answer said to unscrew the lens as the seller didn't check if the stand would work. I deleted the question as another person asked the same thing. I unscrewed the lens and there were innards ready for dust to enter. I attached the stand. I tested theโ€ฆ

Version confusion is good for computer components

Originally Arducam only produced a manually switchable version of this camera. This was excruciating, because to toggle the IR filter you had to write a program (or shell script), which almost nobody did. It was not supported by Motion or mjpg-streamer. Also, the RPi 4 was missing the GPIO pin that controlled the filter, so it was useless. The automatic version uses the same photoresistor as the lights to switch the filter. Sometimes it works. When the brightness is in the right range, however,

  • Confident

  • Out of fashion
