Description of ️ 3/16 Inch ARES 70024 Scissor Disconnect Tool

WHY YOU NEED IT: This Fuel Line Disconnect Tool makes fuel filter replacement easy. The quick disconnect coupler fittings have a locking mechanism inside the outer housing that goes over the lip of the fuel filter while the tool gets under the locking mechanism and releases the inner lip. APPLICATIONS: This disconnect tool is necessary for Fuel, Heater, and A/C line service on many late model vehicles. Use it to release locking mechanisms on 3/8-inch and 5/16-inch fuel lines. Compatible with GM (1989 and Newer), compatible with Ford (1990 and Newer), and compatible with Mazda (some 1990 and Newer). TIPS: Relieve the pressure in the fuel line before disconnecting it, and remember to pull on the line after the spring (locking mechanism) has been released. Use on Fords that have “Blue Clips” (pictured in this listing) which can be released with a screwdriver. You'll need this fuel line disconnect tool for the other side of the fuel filter. Worked great in fuel system tools

I have used this item before and had to buy it again because I lost the last one. If using a tool, first check the size of the fuel line. Insert the tool at a 45 degree angle to the main guide so the head can be inserted into the fuel line head port. Squeezing disconnects the connector from the fuel line nipple. Be sure to depressurize the fuel line before removing the line itself.

  • Handy item
Cons
  • Working speed

Awkward if not useless

There are better tools out there for disconnecting Ford fuel lines. I had a lot of trouble getting this to work. I ended up buying some different colored plastic tools from another manufacturer which made the job easier. For them, fit is important to stretch the "garter” enough to free the lines. And the tool used not only has to have the right diameter, but also be designed in such a way that it can be placed on the pipe at all.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Repair cut point as the metal is not flexible. It will NOT work on 2004-2015 Nissan Titan, Armada and similar vehicles even though they have a 5/16 fuel line. If there are ridges on the fuel lines near the point of disconnection, you need to take a plastic tool that can bend and bend around the ridge, thus unlocking the quick connector.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥

Works but messy at joint

Works for disconnecting fittings but I don't know if all brands of this tool work the same way. This one seems really sloppy in the mix. The tool must be clamped over the pipe and then inserted into the fitting to loosen the clamps. Because the hinge of this tool is very loose, you really need to hold it firmly with your hand to keep it from slipping off. Works great on a bench, but when you're under a car and can only use one hand it's not that easy when it pops open and falls off so easily. I

Fuel line disconnect

Worked well. I had to use a small screwdriver to pry off the fuel hose. Be careful not to damage the latch on the connector. You should actually be able to pick the lock with your fingers, it's quite fragile. But if you break it, then they replace some models, at least the F-150. I've seen people first remove the filter and then shut off the lines. However, I found it easier to disconnect the lines first, this gives you some advantage when disconnecting. There is no need to turn off the fuel…

Pros
  • WHY: This fuel line disconnect tool simplifies fuel filter replacement. The quick disconnect fittings have a locking mechanism in the outer housing that goes over the lip of the fuel filter while a tool enters under the locking mechanism and loosens the inner lip.
Cons
  • Expensive

Fuel Filter Removal Tool F-150

This tool worked great for removing the fuel filter from my 2007 F-150. The fuel line didn't want to come loose easily so all I had to do was use a screwdriver between this tool and the fuel filter as leverage and the old filter came loose. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to change the fuel filter. BTW, Ford recommends changing them every 30,000 miles, but I only changed mine at 100,000, all the black dirt came out of the old filter, so I'll change it more often in the future. Also…

Pros
  • APPLICATIONS: This disconnect tool is required for servicing the fuel, heater and air conditioning lines on many newer model vehicles. Use it to unlock locking mechanisms on 3/8" and 5/16" fuel lines. GM compatible (1989 and up), Ford compatible (1990 and up), and Mazda compatible (some 1990 and up).
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

Had to modify to remove the fuel filter...

This tool worked...after I shaved off 3/32" of the correct working ends. Otherwise it would be impossible to remove either fuel filter fuel line clamp on a 2002 Mustang GT as the clearance between the curved filter inlet increases close to the rib on the filter line bracket to get into the clamp at a good angle.this tool;the clip was blocked too close to the filter to allow proper instrument entry. On the drain end it worked fine before the change After my modification it worked fine on both…
