A must if you work with drum brakes

Even if your car has 4 disc brakes, you still have two sets of drum brakes: parking brakes, which are hidden under the rear brake discs. If you EVER need to service these brakes, this tool is essential to loosen the very stiff springs that hold the drum brake surfaces together. Very important.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Not everything fits

There is nothing wrong with this tool

Exception if you have a Subaru and are trying to do an emergency brake. This tol is the wrong size (too big), he ended up using a needle vise. (best choice anyway) As I said, there is nothing wrong with this tool. If you need to make drum brakes on an old American car or truck I'm sure this will come in handy.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Some little things

GM Brake Junk

This is a generic design that just doesn't fit. Buy yourself a pair of needle nose pliers that will save you a lot of stress and hassle! The angled working end of this tool doesn't hold the clip and spring together, and unless you're completely straight you'll be scouring your garage for flying parts. 2010 Chevy Silverado tested and unregistered. Visegrip brand needle nose pliers are what you need. All day

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Negative

It is better to remove the springs than to install them

It is better to remove the springs than to install them. The grooves do not have sufficient engagement with the lockwasher to rotate it during installation. Removal is easy as you can simply blindly rotate the tool until the parts align and the bracket releases. A small pair of pliers makes the installation more efficient. The cutout looks spectacular and lets you see the pen but you don't really see anything. I wouldn't buy this again.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Not bad
