This is a durable item with good padding and will keep your little ones safe. But it's smaller and my 11 year old finds it quite cramped. I bought these specifically to protect the wrists so we can reduce the risk of broken wrists when my daughter falls off the skateboard and lands on her hands outstretched. Unfortunately, the plastic on the wrists is too thin to provide support. It's about as strong as a kid's plastic cup, just as thick, and just as flexible. Not what I was looking for.
