Armor Anchor Installation Tool 8348 Review

Why sell an ice guard and anchor as a kit and not include this very necessary tool is just plain stupid. But the tool works great and is the only way to place anchors in the ice quickly and easily.

The product in the photo is not what you get! The picture shows what appears to be an all aluminum block. The tool you actually get is just a cheap plastic tool that broke the first time I used it in the cold. this is false advertising!

Do not purchase this item. I failed after setting the third anchor. Not sure why it's plastic as it needs to drive in metal anchors. I buy the metal version on ebay as it is too fragile.

I bought this to fix my Eskimo Bobhaus anchors on the ice. Outside the package it is not attached to the anchors as they have a small metal washer. I was able to modify it by removing the metal clip and trimming the plastic closer to the other side. Works now.

The product works but only when it's not cold, which is hard to miss as it's used for ice fishing. My advice: only use it to install anchors, but DO NOT use it to extract them. Never keep the tool outside the day before using it. And remember, even if you're careful, if used in the cold it will break in half and become completely unusable.

Don't waste your money I bought an ice anchor, took it out on first use and when I drilled the 3rd anchor in my hub shelter it all broke into 2 pieces, very poor design making them plasticky, it is obviously very brittle at lower temperatures, should be metal and that would be a great idea, don't waste $20.
