ARROW 161000 Small Picture Hangers Review

They were great for a few projects I wanted to hang. The small nails were a bit tricky to work with, but I thought they should be kept short so they don't protrude through the front of the frame. One item I hung was thicker than the others, so I used some longer nails I had on hand for that. I'm deducting a star because the sawtooth spacing is larger than ideal. It still works for my purposes, but the shallower spacing will probably help avoid crooked drawings and the like.

I used them on a project I was working on for my friend because he had them in his room when he was a kid and I was lucky that they came in a pack of six. All nails are included, 3 of them were a little warped, I was afraid they wouldn't fit properly, but everything turned out great. (3 out of 12 is hardly a problem). I've included photos to show how subtle they are, as well as the deformed nail on "D" versus the normal one on "R". They are just perfect for my project.

NAIL TIP: It's a shame that so many people have to struggle with small nails. Here's a trick I learned years ago. Simply find the spot where you want to attach the notched hanger and insert two pins into the holes in the hanger. Remove the sawtooth bracket and reinsert the push pins into the frame, this time pushing (or twisting them back and forth) the pins all the way into the wood. I used these to hang some wooden signs I made tonight. Those little nails are one hell of a challenge. I wanted to use a comb to fix the nail but apparently there is no comb in my house. ;o/ I ended up sticking them in the tree, holding the strut with a nail and then repeating on the other side. Luckily I only had one picture because I don't know if I would have had the patience for more. The nails are weak and bend easily no matter how careful I am. When installing the first nail, this was a little less of a problem as I could rotate the hanger to get it out of the way and then easily straighten the nail.
