Great set for beginners and intermediate pastel artists. It has a pretty good range of colors and is neither too soft nor too hard. Happy medium hardness. Ideal for touch-ups/first coats. Arteza is a pretty good new brand and has enjoyed other mediums and wasn't disappointed by these pastel colors.

Phenomenal quality. Arrived well packaged in a very sturdy box. High level artists can use them. I like that the box is collapsible and has plastic handles to pull it out. This makes it a good pocket size for going outdoors. The protective paper protects my hands from pastel dust. The small containers make it shelf safe on a plein air stand.

These sets are harder than those from Terry Ludwig, Great American etc but not as hard and chalky as most 'cheap' starter sets. And the packaging and color/value range is amazing. They're great for beginners but just as useful for experienced artists, especially when traveling or when they need a harder pastel to get a sharper line.

These pastel colors are good. You get a good range of colors and a relatively large pastel pencil. Nicely packaged. I compared them to some Faber Castell soft pastels I had on hand and they were very similar. Arteza appeared to have slightly less pigment, but the difference was negligible. I've provided a quick image I created using Arteza Pastel on pastel paper.

Mediocre at Best. They don't stick well to paper, don't stack well, and are very crumbly. I pointed out that they are not for beginners because I think one should have a decent set of pastel pencils when first confronted with pastel such as Rembrandt which are inexpensive or Nupastel as they give a better idea get from how work. with pastel colors and if they like them. At Arteza, a beginner does not know how a good pastel works and how to layer it and can become frustrated and lose interest.
