I don't like the fact that the tip of these pencil sharpeners can be removed with little or no effort. I bought these to avoid making a mess on the floor when my 5 year old uses them. However my 1 year old can pull the tops off with no effort and then you guess what. I land on the floor with a mess!

It easily breaks the tip of regular and colored pencils and usually deforms the pencil. When really sharpened, it looks like a long, thin dagger (which usually breaks instantly). The case falls off easily in use and throws out a ton of pencil shavings (because there are always so many after trying to sharpen a pencil for 3 minutes). I don't know if these positive reviewers got another product or something similar, but I don't recommend it.

I bought these along with coloring books for my 7 year old son. Full disclosure, I'm an overprotective parent! I was worried he would hurt himself but he does a great job with them. But it's probably best for an older child, as a very young child could potentially cut themselves on the razor playing with it instead of using it as intended. They're easy for a kid to use, they love the bright colors and it's easy to remove the lid to get rid of the pencil shavings. My son had a break but another…
